Variable truth. Uncertain politics. Discordant economy. How can the Sky remain the limit?

August News

It’s August. And I’ve had a blast in the time I was away from you all. That’s not to say I wasn’t thinking of you, of course; however, office policy stopped me from posting here. For, you see, I’ve been interning in Congress since June. It was a great experience, to be sure. The hearings were extremely educational; the research and general work was as well; and the staff were cordial and friendly. For the first half of my internship I lived with a Maryland family of 4 who have been friends of my family for quite a while. They were amazingly wonderful people, and were extremely accomodating. I loved living with them, and their children were wonderful and will probably grow up to be outstanding human beings.

Notwithstanding, if anyone of college- age is reading this and wondering whether to stay in Maryland and work/intern in Washington, don’t do it if, a), you aren’t accustomed to long commutes;  b), if you’re not a morning person and if your job requires you to be there by 7-8AM; and c) if you don’t have your own car.  If you don’t have your own car, the commute is death, and public transportation (except the Metro stops, which require commutes in and of themselves) doesn’t work on the weekends. I recommend Hostelling International, where I stayed after my hosts went on vacation. The address is:

1009 11th Street, NW; Washington, DC 20001.

 Telephone: (+1-) 202-737-2333

They serve breakfast, have a pool table on the 1st floor, attract people from all over the world and have a 50 INCH LCD 1080i TV on the second floor. And you can generally meet interesting people in hostels. It’s nothing like the movie, of course.

At the moment, I’m in Barbados, and will be for at least 2 more days. I haven’t seen my grandparents in a while (8 years to be exact), and sort of want to catch up with them.

I have to get off now, but I’ll be back later on in the month. Good night, everyone!
